Formalities and visa

For tourist stays in South Africa of less than 90 days, holders of a French passport (ordinary, diplomatic or service) are exempt from a prior visa. A 90-day residence permit will be issued at the border upon entry into South Africa.

The passport must have two blank pages and still be valid 30 days after the expected date of exit from South Africa. Otherwise, travelers will be turned away on arrival.

Health (mandatory vaccines, recommended vaccines)

Vaccines against diphtheria and tetanus, typhoid fever, and hepatitis A and B are recommended.

Currency and official language

The currency is the rand (R or ZAR). 1.00 € = 14.43 ZAR
