Best season to leave : The climate of Laos is globally tropical that is why we must promote the dry season to discover the country. We therefore recommend traveling during the months between November and March.

Departure from France to reach Thailand and Bangkok. Transfer between the airport and your hotel.

Departure to Bangkok airport in the morning to reach Chiang Rai. On arrival, transfer to your hotel then free day in Chiang Rai.
Transfers between Chiang Rai and Thailand / Laos border crossing. After crossing the Laotian border of Houei Sai, your private guide will be there to welcome you and accompany you to your private cruise ship to Pakbeng.
En route, a stop will be made to visit and admire the rural and authentic life of the hill tribes.
Enjoy a delicious lunch on board the boat as you continue your cruise along the picturesque river Mekong.
In the late afternoon you will reach the town of Pakbeng. Halfway between Houay Xay and Luang Prabang, this small town is lined with wooden houses along a sloping street on the hill and is very vibrant. Depending on the current of the river, you can reach Pakbeng in time to watch the sunset over the river from your room balcony.
Dinner at your hotel.
Overnight in Pakbeng.
After breakfast, you will participate in the daily elephant bath at the Mekong Elephant Camp across the river. Then enjoy a short ride with the elephants for around 30 minutes and learn more about this endangered species.
After lunch at your hotel, depart Pakbeng and travel north towards the remote province of Oudomxay.
You will pass through the provincial capital, Oudomxay. Once a very sleepy town, it has become an important trading hub and shows the changes that are rapidly taking place in the region. This makes the last leg of the journey, away from the hustle and bustle of cities and surrounded by untouched nature, all the more exciting. The contrast also highlights how special the experiences are in remote areas.
Arrival at Muang La Resort, check in and relax while enjoying the view. Facilities include a spa, sauna, and steam room (it can get cold at night here, especially between November and March). The resort is built next to a natural hot spring which fills a small pool every night. Evenings are a real treat here, with a 5-course menu combining Asian and European influences, to be enjoyed by candlelight, accompanied by the sounds of nature.

This new day of visit does not include a real hike, but above all a few moments of walking, in order to go from village to village. For long distances, the only means will be the 4×4. The latter will also help you when you have to climb some steeper mountains, and thus reach the more remote villages. Wilder, but so much more fascinating.
Right after your breakfast, you will go on a visit to a totally isolated village, which is called Ikhos. The inhabitants are from Tibet and Yunnan mainly, and they have seen few foreigners during their life. The atmosphere that emanates there will only be different from the rest of the day. Throughout the day, you will learn about their daily life, and the customs that have been passed down for centuries.
The altitude, more than 1000 m, will allow you to observe fabulous views, and enjoy a picnic on site. As soon as the meal is over, you will leave the village for a forty-five minute walk to Hmong de Ban Tauser.
Back to the resort at the end of the day.
Dinner and overnight at Muang La Resort.
After breakfast, you will be driven for approximately two hours to Muang Khua, a small town on the banks of the Nam Ou River. You will board a private local boat for a cruise in one of the most beautiful stretches of Laos. Compared to the Mekong, the Nam Ou River is much more impressive and wild and is also less traveled.
Enjoy a picnic en route and spot the different local villages during your cruise.
At the end of the afternoon, you will reach Nong Khiaw, famous for the karst mountains that surround it. Check in at your hotel on the banks of the Nam Ou.
The rest of the day is free (we recommend trying the sauna!), don't forget to admire the sunset from your balcony.
Dinner will be served at your hotel.
Overnight in Nong Khiaw.
After breakfast, you will start the road to Luang Prabang.
Stop for a tour of the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, at the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong rivers. Locally called "Tam Ting", these two caves are carved out of high limestone cliffs and contain thousands of lacquered gold Buddha statues.
Continue to Luang Prabang for about an hour. Check-in at the hotel and refreshment.
Lunch is free.
Enjoy historical and cultural insight into the rich architectural history of the majestic UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang.
The day is coming to an end, climb the 328 steps Mount Phousi and enjoy the sunset over the city and the surrounding hills. Visit the night market colorful happening every night around 17h00, along the main street of the city, great for buying souvenirs.

Your spiritual retreat is specialized in the development of meditation practice individually or in groups. Here is the typical day of the program proposed by your institution:

After breakfast, departure from the hotel to the countryside and rural villages of the Luang Prabang region to reach the Kuang Falls. You will attend a traditional offering called Tak Bat to the monks of Luang Prabang.
Walk to the falls. You can enjoy the natural pools.
Visit the bear sanctuary which is next to the falls, managed by the association " Free The Bears ". There are currently 23 Asian black bears living in the sanctuary, which have been rescued from poaching. The main threat to these bears is poaching.
Transfer back to Luang Prabang after a fascinating morning. Free afternoon.
In the evening, you will have the unique opportunity to discover one of the oldest traditions of Laos: Baci. The purpose of Baci, which is a mixture of animistic and Buddhist beliefs, is to recall the spirits escaped from the body. This ceremony is very important before major events such as weddings, births, traveling, welcoming friends and farewells.
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel for a special trip to the temple of Wat Phou Kouey located on a hill on the outskirts of Luang Prabang, as the sun sets to find the temple lit by candles for your private Baci ceremony.
During Baci, trays of special flowers and sweets are prepared and are then touched by participants while Buddhist mantras are chanted. After the chants are completed, cotton threads are tied around the wrists of the participants as they receive individual blessings. This special private ceremony will leave you with memories for years to come.
After the ceremony, you will have time to enjoy the unique ambiance of Wat Phou Kouey temple before your transfer to the hotel.
Transfer to town for an oenological dinner at Tangor, which will serve you a selection of Western dishes with original Asian flavors. This dinner will be accompanied by excellent wines, offering you a unique culinary experience.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Free time until your transfer to the airport and return to France.
